The following year, on March 13, 1980, Aldeas Infantiles SOS República Dominicana was officially recognized by Decree 1610 as a non-governmental, non-profit organization, with its national headquarters in Santo Domingo.
In Aldeas Infantiles SOS we work for the rights of children to live in a family. We develop activities for the prevention of the loss of family life, offering alternatives for the care of children who were separated from their families, and we develop political activities to encourage States to provide the necessary conditions so that children can fully exercise their rights.
