It was created to benefit . . . street children of that time, with a program based on fundamental children’s rights. This organization then found support in civil society and many people joined to aid with its mission. Today, more than 7,400 children, adolescents and young people at high social risk in 19 communities in Santiago receive quality services through our programs, more than 4,000 members of their respective families and more than 620 key community actors and leaders. More than 12,000 people benefit from our community and prevention programs in marginalized neighborhoods.

In the Dominican Republic, it was founded in the Jardines del Norte on September 25, 1979. The following year, on March 13, 1980, Aldeas Infantiles SOS República Dominicana was officially recognized by Decree 1610 as a non-governmental, non-profit organization, with its national headquarters in Santo Domingo.
In Aldeas Infantiles SOS we work for the rights of children to live in a family. We develop activities for the prevention of the loss of family life, offering alternatives for the care of children who were separated from their families, and we develop political activities to encourage States to provide the necessary conditions so that children can fully exercise their rights.

It was founded by Mr. Camilo Lluberes H., together with the national private sector, as a response to the need to address the prevailing problems of unemployment and underemployment in the country.
It started its operations in 1983 in the marginalized neighborhoods of the city of Santo Domingo, with the principal objective to create and strengthen employment through financial and managerial assistance to micro and small enterprises that operate in this urban area. Afterwards, on the initiative of groups and provincial organizations from different regions of the country, it began to extend its program throughout the entire national territory.
In 1988, the Monetary Board approved a license to carry out banking operations as Banco de Desarrollo at the same time that it opened its doors as Banco Ademi. At this moment, ADEMI because the social arm of Banco Ademi.
