Jaime Aristy Escuder

Biography:

Dr. Aristy Escuder is an economist and mathematician. In 1985, he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Economics Summa Cum Laude from the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC). En 1989, he received a Doctorate in Economics from the University of Barcelona, Spain. En 1994, he obtained his Masters Degree in Pure Mathematics from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) in Santo Domingo. Dr. Aristy Escuder, in 2003, graduated from the University of Chicago with a Masters of Science in FInancial Mathematics.

Since 1989, Dr. Aristy Escuder has been a professor of Mathematical Economics and Econometrics in the PUCMM, INTEC and La Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE), at both the undergraduate and masters level.

Between 1994 and 2004, he served as the Director of Research of the Fundación Economía y Desarrollo. He also has been a consultant for the UNDP, World Bank, Interdevelopment Bank, World Food Program, UNICEF, CEPAL and the United States Agency for International Development, among other organizations.

Dr. Aristy Escuder has written and collaborated on 10 books published in the Dominican Republic and by foreign editorial houses, including the Economic Culture Fund and McGraw-Hill. In addition, he is the author of various essays on the Dominican economy that have been reprinted in specialized international magazines, some of which have been presented in the Massachussetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University and London University.

Dr. Aristy Escuder was recognized in 1999 as an Exceptional Youth by the Jaycess’72, and in 2011 received the prize for Distinguished Alumni of INTEC. He is a member of the American Economic Association and of the Econometric Society.
