Ms. Valdez graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Economics Cum Laude from the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD). In 1994, she obtained her Masters Degree in Education from the same university. Between 1985 and 1995, he served as the Executive Director of Centro de Investigación y Promoción Social (CIPROS) . In 2001, she served as consultant for the Program Fortalecimiento de Organizaciones de la Sociedad Civil (PFOSC) and for the Centro de Gerencia y Gobernabilidad del INTEC (CEGES) where she developed capacity building programs civil society. In 2004, she coordinated Fondos Concursables para el Desarrollo de Innovaciones Educativas for the Ministry of Education. Through 2008 and 2010, she was Vice Minister of Education she was in charge of Participation, Management and Descentralization and was also President of the Licitation Committee for the same Ministry (Sept. 2009 through March 2010). In 2010 she was Elected Deputy for the National Congress 2010-2016 (Alianza por la Democracia). She serves on the Permanent Commissions of Human Development (Vicepresident), Economics, Planning and Development, Budget, Accounting, and National Fund. She is also a member of the Bicameral Commission for a National Development Strategy.
Ms. Valdez received the Medalla de Merito presented by the Secretary of State for Women, on March 8, 2007.
