Eladio Fernández is a nature photographer and consultant. He has travelled extensively throughout the island of Hispaniola, working with various community groups and non-profit organizations, and collaborating with the Ministry of the Environment. He is a member of Fundación Progressio, the Treasurer and a Board Member of the Fondo Peregrino RD, and a Founder and Member (former President) of the Sociedad Ornitológica Hispaniola. He also is a Founder, Member and Administrator of Eco y 1/2 Ambiente, a Facebook group formed to help identify and call attention to environmental infractions in the Dominican Republic through the posting of photographic evidence. Since 2012, he has been an Advisor to Fundación Propagas.
In August of 2015, Mr. Fernández was selected to be an Associate Fellow in the International League of Conservation Photographers (iLCP).
Mr. Fernández has published several photography books, including: Orchids of the Dominican Republic and Haiti (2007); Hispaniola, a Photographic Journey through Island Biodiversity (2007); Jamaica, a Photographic Journey through the Land of Wood and Water (2008); Cuba, a Photographic Encounter with Nature (2010); Ébano Verde Scientific Reserve, an Encounter with Nature (2010); and Transformation, the Life Cycle of the Butterflies of Hispaniola (2014).
