CEMEX República Dominicana (CEMEX)

PATRIMINIO HOY is a program created by CEMEX to offer Dominican families who don’t have access to bank loans the possibility of expanding or improving their homes through the granting of micro-loans to purchase construction materials, without requirements, at 0% interest.

Through the habit of saving, by means of a programmed goal of a weekly quota, an affiliate of PATRIMONIO HOY receives at no additional cost the Technical Assistance of an expert, who determines the general Budget of the Project, the necessary construction materials and the programming of delivery of the same. This project budget will be valid during the 48 weeks of the plan, that is to say, any variation in the price of the materials will be assumed by PATRIMONIO HOY, providing a savings in materials of 35%.

In addition to the above, the cost of transporting the materials to the construction project and their storage (if necessary) is included at no extra cost.

Created in 1998 in Mexico, Patrimonio Hoy has more than 100 offices with more than 500,000 benefiting families throughout Latin America. The successful history of the program has been shared in diverse forum with business people, governments and universities in Mexico, Chile, Spain, Germany and the United States, including Harvard, Stanford, Cornell, the Tecnológico de Monterrey and the Business Institute of Upper Management.

Mission/Vision

In 1998, CEMEX conducted an exploratory study designed to evaluate the impact of CEMEX social programs on neighboring communities, investigating their principal necessities and their perception of them.

The results of this study were the first ingredient in the creation of a program of high social impact, with the objective of empowering people to be self-sufficient, organized, with specific and disciplined goals, thereby allowing them access to self-construction loans and high quality construction materials, by means of the Patrimonio Hoy Program.

The Patrimonio Hoy Program aligns values and commercial corporate goals with the needs of the communities where we work, thus generating sustainable benefits with long term benefits for both parties.

From within Patrimonio Hoy three essential parts work together in a coordinated and united manner:

FAMILY-HARDWARE CHANNEL-CEMEX: PATRIMONIO HOY

In accordance with business strategy, the people benefiting from the Patrimonio Hoy Program are the communities impacted by the Enterprises’s Operations, meaning the Provinces where the Plants and Extraction Mines operate.

Primary Programs and Projects

The Patrimonio Hoy Program has as its main goal the improvement of the Quality of Life of the Dominican Family through the fomenting of the habit of saving and thereby facilitating access to interest-free microloans.

Additionally, it contributes to the reduction of materials waste and the increase of the performance of the same in the construction or remodeling of homes by means of technical assistance from the Company’s engineering experts.
