To promote excellence in the diagnosis and treatment of people with autism and other human development special needs so that they can maximize their potential.
That all people with autism and other special educational needs receive a quality diagnosis and treatment in accordance with the standard: “It is not enough to do good, it is necessary to do it well.”
Unity: We provide assistance in a close, empathetic manner to all those who need it.
Excellence: Our work is characterized by its standard of quality and by the achievement of results having a large social impact.
Vanguardia: We make sure to keep our professionals up-to-date, training them on the most effective treatments.
Proactivity: We work consistently and with great earnestness to achieve our mission.
Our principal goal is to train professionals and families on how correctly to diagnose and treat autism and related conditions.
Among other training is that for the Psychological Test A-II, which is designed correctly to diagnose autism, the first introduction of which was sponsored by FUNDAMAR in benefit of the children at the Dr. Robert Reid Cabral Children’s Hospital in Santo Domingo.
FUNDAMAR also trained a group of 20 professionals in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). As part of the training, for six months these professionals gave ABA therapy to 10 children in the Dr. Robert Reid Cabral Children’s Hospital, under the supervision of a Behavior Analyst via Skype.
Recently, FUNDAMAR sponsored in the Centro de Atención Integral para la Discapacidad (CAID) for a week a Spanish consultant on the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), which certified 60 teachers from the educational support classrooms of MINERD in Functional ABA. She also certified in EPCS Level 1 65 professionals and 65 families of CAID and of the Fundacion Manos Unidas por el Autismo and the Fundacion Dominicana del Autismo. The method PECS has been scientifically proven to improve the communication abilities of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other disabilities and is a pyramidal communication system of the exchange of images.
In addition to bringing to the country professionals and expert consultants on autism and its diagnosis and treatment, FUNDAMAR has sponsored educational causes, such as school libraries, book banks, school supplies and school sponsorships, such as the case with the Padre Arturo School of Monte Plata. It also donated to the Archdiocese the land upon which the San José de Calasanz Church of Arroyo Hondo sits today.
