Save the Children began its work in the Dominican Republic in 1972, in the Community of Loma de Cabrera near the Haitian border. In 1976, Fundación para el Desarrollo Comunitario (FUDECO), also known as Save the Children Dominicana, Inc., was established, and today has projects in eight Dominican provinces.
