Alejandro Peña Prieto received an LL.B, magna cum laude, in 1990 from the Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña in Santo Domingo. He subsequently received an LL.M. and a Certificate from the International Taxation Program of Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1992. Acting as the managing partner of the Santo Domingo office of the international law firm Squire Patton Boggs, Mr. Peña Prieto counsels clients on corporate, mergers and acquisitions, energy, finance, government relations, contracts and regulatory issues. For the past several years, Mr. Peña Prieto has been recognized as one of the country’s top lawyers in Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Lawyers. He is listed in the Latin American Corporate Counsel Association’s approved list of Corporate/M&A Lawyers for the Dominican Republic for 2014, and in Who’s Who Legal: Mergers & Acquisitions 2014 as one of the world’s leading practitioners in these fields. He is also recognized by LatinVex as one of the top 100 lawyers of Latin America.
Mr. Peña Prieto is a member of the Board and Past President of the American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic, where he also chaired its Corporate Social Responsibility Committee. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Foreign Investment Companies of the Dominican Republic (ASIEX), and the Representative of the Stock Exchange on the National Securities Council of the Dominican Republic. Mr. Peña Prieto also currently serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors of Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos Dominican Republic and as a Board Member of the Fundación Institucionalidad y Justicia, Inc. (FINJUS), in addition to serving as the Secretary of the Board of Directors of Asociación Granito de Arena para Mi País (GRANPAIS).
